WHEN GLOBETROTTERS SETTLE

The most central and largest house within the UNSER BAYERN ensemble dates back to 1763 when it was erected close to Vilshofen in Upper Bavaria. To protect it from being destroyed it was taken down log by log in 1978 and rebuilt two years later where it stands today.

The house is a masterpiece and represents the carpentry craftsmanship as it flourished 300 years ago. With highest regard to its historic substance, the current owners created an environment far beyond any rustic cliché. If one tries to describe it, stylish, quirky or eclectic might come to mind. It is a place that inspires with its cosy feel and touch of luxury.

GROUND FLOOR

Guests will find a fine dining room for up to 14 guests, heated by a tile stove and with separate seating areas to read and relax. Adjacent is the cosy living room with an open fireplace, furnished with memorabilia from Africa. The modern and fully equipped kitchen is opposite the fine dining room and also contains a small and comfortable table for simple family meals. The smaller of two bathrooms and a storage room complete the floor.

FIRST FLOOR

All rooms are connected through a long corridor, where some outstanding carpentry can be seen. The master bedroom offers ample space and is furnished in sublime style. The alpine Bavarian spirit is captured in the second bedroom, with separate single beds. A freestanding double bathtub with views into the forest dominates the spacious main bathroom. In the office the tone is set by a shellac lacquered Jugendstil table combined with lighting objects from Vienna; the room can be used as a third bedroom if needed.

ATTIC

The attic contains the family library and serves as an open space family room, with games, a TV, video and children toys.

OUTSIDE

NR. 5 is fronted by a large south facing sun terrace, leading to a lounge area inviting guests to relax and let time pass by. Al fresco meals can be enjoyed on the annexing garden terrace facing towards the COTTAGE house with views of the Davos house, the garden, and up to the village church. A table, chairs and outside covers are provided for up to 14 people.

SOLITUDE

When booking NR. 5 no other houses will be rented; guests will have the whole UNSER BAYERN ensemble for themselves.
